SBA will Provide Direct Forgiveness of PPP Loans

August 4, 2021

Overview

Some lenders are bogged down in the process of submitting Paycheck Protection Program loans for forgiveness, leaving borrowers uncertain whether they must repay their PPP loans.  The Small Business Administration has made it easier for some borrowers with loans of $150,000 or less to apply for forgiveness.  Instead of applying through the lender, the borrower can apply directly with the SBA, provided the lender has opted into this program.  The SBA portal will begin accepting direct forgiveness applications on August 4.
