Don Schurr is Chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Group and focuses his practice on patent, trademark, and copyright law. He serves a diverse client base including international corporations, regional and small companies, educational institutions, and foreign IP firms.

Don has known and worked with many of his clients since he was a law clerk with Marshall Melhorn in 1988; he is proud to assist all of his clients with their projects in North America and around the world.

Representative Matters

  • Prosecution of foreign and domestic patents in the mechanical arts, chemical arts, and material sciences, including architectural and automotive glass, medical devices, safety gloves, mineral granules, overhead door hardware, golf simulators, and fishing tackle;
  • Providing opinions on patentability and patent infringement, validity, enforceability, and freedom-to-operate;
  • Providing trademark availability assessment, registration, infringement and validity counseling, licensing, and litigation support.
