Franceska Surinck is an associate in the firm’s Education Law Group. She is working with our diverse education clients on multiple issues affecting school districts, including labor and employment issues, student discipline, policy review, public records, athletics, compliance, and more.
She is also working with the Labor & Employment Law Group on employment litigation matters and class action cases under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Prior to joining Marshall Melhorn, Franceska worked as an associate in the Detroit, Michigan office of Jackson Lewis P.C., a nationwide employment law firm. In this position, she worked primarily on general litigation in both federal and state courts for the firm’s healthcare clients. She also has experience representing businesses from the hospitality industry in Title III public accommodation lawsuits.
While attending law school, Franceska received several awards for her appellate brief writing, including the 2018 Law Review Best Brief Competition and third place in the Michigan State University appellate moot court competition. In college, Franceska competed on two moot court teams including the national American Bar Association and wrote a brief defending employer’s liability for a workplace accident.
A native of Toledo, Ohio, Franceska has interned at both county and municipal courts here, and she worked as a law clerk for a private practice, full service law firm in Sylvania, Ohio.
