Thomas Palmer, a former managing partner, is a senior member of the firm’s litigation and business groups, having practiced over 40 years in business dispute resolution (negotiation, mediation, arbitration and litigation) and counsel involving corporate governance, construction, general business, contract, commercial employment, covenants not to compete, and related legal matters.
Tom has been actively involved in a broad range of civic activities including serving in leadership positions on the boards of the Toledo Lucas County Port Authority, Regional Growth Partnership, Local Initiatives Services Corporation (LISC), Toledo Cultural Arts Center/ Historic Valentine Theatre, University of Toledo Medical College Advisory Council, and Ohio Wesleyan University.
Tom is also actively involved and holds leadership positions on the boards of directors of privately and publicly held corporations. Some representative companies include the National Lime & Stone Company, a limestone aggregates and industrial minerals business, headquartered in Findlay, Ohio (chairman of the audit committee and member of the compensation committee); Continental Land & Fur Co. Inc./CLF Resources LLC, an oil and gas exploration, development and operating business, headquartered in Houston, Texas (chairman of the board); and the Erie Indemnity Company, engaged in the property/casualty/life insurance business, headquartered in Erie, Pennsylvania (chairman of the executive compensation and development committee and member of the nominating/governance, strategy and audit committees).
Tom’s diverse experience in legal, civic, corporate and business matters has enabled him to bring thoughtful, empathetic consideration of competing interests and judgment helpful in distinctive ways to frame issues, counsel and facilitate resolution of differing viewpoints as well to provide leadership appropriate to the circumstances at hand or pursue formal process when required.
